It was after sunset when I finally made it to a nearby dogs-allowed beach this evening, so the conditions for taking photographs were not exactly ideal.  And yet . . .

Snails!  Endlessly amazing commonplace creatures – and slightly translucent when exposed to bright sunlight, I discovered today. After posing briefly s/he was returned to the dark leaves to peruse its strange snaily personal life,  unmolested, except by other snails.
