The portrait group I sometimes draw with didn’t have a model this week, so we all took turns posing for 2, 5 and 10 minutes each. Nooow, normally I’ll do a 30 minute charcoal sketch when working with a new model, to warm up and get familiar with their face. And, that seems very quick. It was interesting having to not hesitate and just grab information as fast as a I could.
Also, my appreciation of the work that artists’ models do was reaffirmed. Me, I find it darn hard to sit still for even 10 minutes; posing for several hours requires properly tough professionals.
All charcoal and white pastel on kraft paper.
